The Beatles

If there's one band I despise more than any other band, it's The Beatles. I don't know why there is this new Beatles craze, but frankly I find it really irritating. The band is overrated and given credit for much more than their worth. I don't think their music is that "monumental" or "inspiring." Every time I get in this argument with someone, they pull out the same line: "Well if it wasn't for them, there would be none of the bands today. They changed music forever!" Honestly, I don't find this statement very credible. Personally, my favorite genre of music is reggae. Reggae has absolutely no correlation to The Beatles whatsoever. Maybe if it wasn't for Bob Marley or Peter Tosh, there would be no reggae, but The Beatles don't fit into the equation. The fact that they even have their own new "Rock Band" edition based on their music just pisses me off. Wheres "Rock Band Chuck Berry" or "Rock Band Buddy Holly " or I'd even go as far to say "Rock Band Led Zeppelin?" The bottom line is The Beatles are not the founders of rock n' roll. They are simply a side note in a vast history of a very extensive genre. Why they are so famous? I don't know. Why are they suddenly so popular again? I have no idea. Compared to the popular music today, they are outdated and lame. In my mind, The Beatles are exactly what they're name says. Beat.

  1. I know exactly what your talking about. There music is so dull. Its just like a bunch of old hippies listened to the shit while they were tripping on acid and thought it was such mesmerizing stuff. This was then passed on when people recently started to think it would be cool to act like hippies again. They decide to not wash their hair, wear dirty clothes, smoke a lot of weed and then suddenly The Beatles are cool again. I don't get it either.

  2. I have to disagree with you. I'm not one of those people who just discovered the Beatles and decided to like them. I have liked them since I was little because my parents have always liked them and I have just heard so much of their music growing up. And people who were teenagers or young adults when the Beatles were first coming over to the US would easily be able to tell you how much of an impact the Beatles and their music have had on today's music, just because of the impact they had on the US as a whole when they first came over.

  3. I like the beatles, I'm not too crazy about them, but I can understand why it was a huge fad. They were basically a boy band for the start of their career. Boy band=easy following. Pretty much every teenage girl in the world wanted the Beatles. Then they experimented a lot and almost revolutionized the industry. I think the experimental parts of their music have led to a lot of other musicians crediting the beatles to their own music
